Features of black steel pipe
The black steel pipe gets its name for its dark surface. It is coated by the iron-oxide surface rather than the galvanized coatings. Since during the production process of black steel pipes, they are made by the seamless technology, they are endowed with better sealing condition. Thereby, the black steel pipes are favored by the gas suppliers. In addition, compared with the galvanized pipes, the black steel pipes are more fireproof and so they could be used to form the fire sprinkler system.

Features of galvanized pipe
The galvanized steel pipes are more resistant to corrosion due to the zinc coating. Generally, these pipes are used to transfer water for individual and commercial purpose. But with the past of the time, the zinc coatings would flake off, and so the ability to resist to corrosion would be decreased. In addition, the galvanized pipes should not be allowed to transfer the gas.

The difference of price between black steel pipes and galvanized pipes
Since the galvanized pipes need to be covered by the zinc coatings, they are much more expensive than the black steel pipes. No matter you are installing the pipe system in your house or in the business building, you should never let the two types of pipes to be joined with each other. They are designed for different construction purposes. While you are not knowledgeable of the information to form the pipe system, you should better consult with an engineer.
